RFT MV810

Built in the former GDR by Funkwerke Kölleda in the 1960-70s for broadcast use, the MV810 is a high quality mic-preamp even by today’s standard. It uses germanium transistors and both input- and output transformers as well as stepped switches for gain and dim functions. Also, the whole preamp is discrete Class-A.

During the racking we had to exchange the rotary switches with new ones from Grayhill and recapped both preamps because of their age, but otherwise they were working just fine after all those years. Since the east-german microphones had their own PSU the MV810 didn’t include phantom power which I added through “Go Between” PCBs from JLM Audio.
